or drop images here to get them under 500 KBJPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and more. Nothing is uploaded. You can also paste a screenshot.

How it works

  1. The limit is set to 500 KB; change it if your form says otherwise, or add a minimum.
  2. Open the options to add an exact pixel size when the rule gives one.
  3. Drop the images. The ruler under each shows where the result landed against the limit.
  4. Download one, or all as a ZIP.

Who needs 500 KB

Half a megabyte is where marketplaces, classified sites and content management systems draw the line, and it is a healthy budget for a 1600-pixel photo. The point here is less about squeezing and more about not uploading a 5 MB original that a slow connection will time out on.

What to expect at 500 KB

Most photos resized to 1600 or 2000 pixels wide fit under 500 KB at quality 80 or above, which is visually identical to the original on a screen. Very detailed images (foliage, crowds, fabric) may be reduced slightly in size to make the limit.

Questions

Is it worth going smaller than the limit?

For listings, yes: a 250 KB photo loads twice as fast and looks the same on a phone. Set a lower target if you have many images on one page.

Can I drop twenty photos at once?

Yes. Each one is handled separately, and the ZIP download keeps the original file names with a suffix so you can tell them apart.

Do I lose the colour profile?

The browser converts the image to standard sRGB when it decodes it, which is what every website expects. Wide-gamut photos from newer phones may look very slightly less saturated.
