Questions

My photo looks upright on my phone but sideways on the form. Why?

Phones often store the picture sideways and add a tag saying 'show rotated'. Some upload forms ignore the tag. This tool applies the tag and writes the pixels upright, so the result looks the same everywhere.

Is rotating by 90 degrees lossless?

The pixels are turned exactly, then saved at quality 92 for JPG, which is not visibly different. PNG stays lossless.

What is the difference between flip and rotate 180?

Rotating 180 turns the picture upside down; flipping horizontally mirrors it left to right, as a mirror would. Front-camera selfies are often mirrored and a horizontal flip corrects them.
